Scrapbook and Journal

On my hubby's last deployment to Kuwait he picked up this beautiful camel leather scrapbook and journal filled with blank flower pressed paper for me!!  The workmanship on these are STUNNING and the pages waiting to be filled are GORGEOUS!  I think that he knows me well to know how much I would LOVE and APPRECIATE such a beautiful gift.  To think, I only asked a for a tee shirt.  :o)

The above images are of the journal.  The first picture is of the front and the second is the back.

A couple flower pressed pages of the journal.

The above images are of the scrapbook.

I'm really looking forward to filling these beautiful pages with the memories that we make together as a family!  I've already decided the first couple pages are going to document the gift I received and detail his deployment.  It will most likely have to wait until after Christmas and the New Year but I just can't wait!!

While I sincerely appreciate this gift, the best is having my hubby home safe and sound where he belongs!

Thanks for looking!!

Vehicle Eyes

Machine Used: BossKut Gazelle
Software: Funtime Scrapbooking IV
Materials: Foam Board, contact paper

My dearest son is a HUGE Disney Cars fan.  If it isn't Lightning McQueen, then is has to be red.  For fun I just knew that he'd love it if I transformed our Jeep Wrangler into a vehicle straight out of the motion pictures that he loves so much!

Starting out with a couple pieces of black foam board, I cut them down and taped them together so that they would fit in the windshield.

Then using an image for the whites of the eyes and the eye balls, I sized them accordingly.  Then in Funtime, I cut the whites into 3 pieces so that I could cut it out in white contact paper on my 12 x 24 mat.  Carefully lining each one up to next so that it looked like one uniform piece.

With the help from Terri's latest class, I cropped the eye out of an image.  This made it easier copying it to an 8 1/2 x 11 worksheet and making a print and cut out of it.

A simple project that added a glow on my son's face!  So worth the effort and time.

I tried calling her Lightning McWrangler but my son insisted that it was Lightning McQueen.

Thanks for looking!!

Princess Magnetic Countdown

Machine Used: BossKut Gazelle
Software: Funtime Scrapbooking IV
Files Used: Butterfly Frame by Judy Stark BKD 189, Princess Hand Mirror by Judy Stark BKD 002
Materials: Card stock, self adhesive rhinestones, magnetic material

Everytime this year after my daughter's dance recital, we start looking at what we're going to do to keep ourselves busy during the summer.  This year her dance studio is offering a 3-day Princess Camp where she can get all dressed up and learn how to be a princess!  She's so excited and asks everyday when she gets to go.  Unfortunately at this time she doesn't have a full grasp of time, so I've created a countdown calendar for her.  We'll change the number of days each day and she'll be able to see how many cards are left.  I'm truly hoping that this will help make it easier for her.

For the actual countdown, I started with the new Butterfly Frame by Judy Stark BKD 189.  I ran the card stock of choice through my Xyron machine, laminating the front and applying magnetic backing to it.  Then I placed it on my cutting mat and the Gazelle cut through it on 1 pass with no problems!!  Love, LOVE it!

For the numbers counting down, I simply created the text in Funtime and printed it out.  Then just cut the shape around it.  Simple and fast.  I inked the edges to give the white card stock a little more dimension to it.

The Princess Hand Mirror by Judy Stark BKD 002 gave me a little more trouble.  I knew that I wanted different layers to it but I also wanted the Gazelle to cut the shape of the mirror around all the layers AFTER I had laminated it.  Clear as mud?  :o)

Example, usually when I'm cutting a shape from my magnetic material it's a basic shape and a single layer of card stock that's been passed through the laminate/magnetic cartridge of my Xyron.

Since I wanted layers on the mirror, I had to cut the paper, picture, and handle out BEFORE passing it through my Xyron.  Then my dilemma was, how do I place my project on the cutting mat making sure that I get it just right so that it cuts around my layered pieces.

After layering the picture, princess hand mirror, and the handle, I ran them through the Xyron.  This gave me the rectangle that I was wanting to avoid.

In Funtime, I created a outline around the entire image.  Then with the new feature in Funtime IV, I turned on the cutting mat view.  Making sure that the image was placed just about where I had placed it on the actual cutting mat, I crossed my fingers and hit cut.

I was VERY impressed with just how close I actually got it!!  I added a few self adhesive rhinestones to the top, because what princess doesn't have a little bling?!

My daughter was very excited when it was completed and it very much looking forward to changing the countdown every day.  That to me is a very successful project!  :o)

Starr's Photography Watermark

Software: PaintShop Pro X

My cousin asked me if I would help her create a watermark for her photos and of course, my answer was absolutely!  Above is a simple design that we worked on together, via e-mail's.  She chose the fonts and I put them together so that the "S" and the "C" were threaded through each other.

We played with many different fonts and finally settled on the simple ones that would offer her more opportunities than using them in printed form.

Check out her website here or her Facebook page here!!

AND, after that was done I just couldn't stop there!  I offered to make her some vinyl decals for her vehicles.  Where else would I go other than my beautiful Gazzy?!  :o)

Machine Used: BossKut Gazelle
Software: Funtime Scrapbooking IV
Files Used: * see above *
Materials: Oracal 651 vinyl (outdoor vinyl)

The larger decals are 6 inches and the smaller ones are 4 inches.  With the smaller ones, although the "Starr's Photography" and "2013 © Starr Cuevas" cut out beautifully with my Gazelle they were a pain to weed!!  Also, I honestly don't think that they would hold up well on a vehicle.

On a completely different topic, I've expanded to Facebook finally!! Please come check out my page and while you're there, how about a like?! :o)

Friendship Bracelet

Materials: embroidery thread, clasp

While this isn't the crafting that I usually do, it was something my dearest daughter asked for.  She saw a friendship bracelet and immediately wanted one too!  Then came in the requests, it had to be purple because that's her favorite color.  Then she wanted hearts.  Yes dear, we'll see what can do!!  :o)

Now, it's been a looonngg time since I've made one of these.  Thankfully for the internet I was able to refresh the technique and find a pattern for hearts.  I alternated the pattern a bit to be able to change the color of the heart.

After finding what I needed, I asked her if it would be OK to add in some pink too (after all it would be hard to see the heart if the whole thing was the same color ;o)).

She hovered over me during each knot I tied and constantly asked if I was done yet.  Fortunately her wrists are so tiny it didn't take too long and I was able to finally put it on her wrist.

As she always is, she was very appreciative of the bracelet and even went so far to say that it made her look like a princess.  Of course, I always think she looks like a princess.  :o)
